Remember when kids had to share cell phones with their parents if they went on field trips, or whatever?

Or when it was really cool to get games like MONKEY BALL? When cameras on phones was amazing? Remember when people used landlines, and it’d be too bad if you couldn’t get a hold of someone, but now it means something. It means something if you pick up right away, it means something if you don’t; if it goes to voice mail, if you even have a voice mail set up (you’d be surprised). It’s assumed that the improvement of information technology has intricately tied itself to our immediate actions… even our relationships. How people would yell at you for wasting a dime of their text cache, how you had flip ups or basic Nokias? When I traveled through Europe, we had Nokias. It was awesome. People had to talk to each other, or leave the apartment in search of happier company.

And now, when you’re hanging out with friends, there’s the inevitable cell phone time that creeps up suddenly, and you don’t even realize it until it’s too late– you look up, and unabashedly, the virtual world of signals and texts being sent over thin air glazed everyone eyes and leaves their company tasting bland, with much more human element to be desired.

OR like when Bill Nye the Science Guy fainted during his USC speech and everyone just took out their phones to Twitter about it.

Not to be the complainer– I’m def. not one to complain about my phone, even if I feel like a slave sometimes (DID IT BLINK WHAT WAS THAT DID U HEAR THAT WAS THAT SOMEONES PHONE), but… well, there’s something infinitely sad about not being able to twirl and tangle the phone cord while you’re gossiping about Chris Leamy and how everyone has a crush on him, and hang up the phone and reminisce about what a great conversation you just had.

...you know, just like this

I had a crush on Chris Leamy.
