I’ll stop obsessing about it, but: I discovered that a lot of blogs on my blog-roll are authored by Asian girls. Am I part of a fad? Have I unknowingly bought into the bull-shit world of blogs? Have I discovered the true color of my soul? Are all my particles of being compulsed towards those with similar genetic make-up? Or, does a shared culture create/cause similar personalities and tastes in design_photos_art?

Speaking of art, I sold another drawing to a lovely customer in Roseville, California. Which is excellent! But lately, I haven’t been producing a lot in terms of art… you just gotta be in the mood, yeah? And how can anyone be inspired if they’re bogged down with so much damned reading…

With the advent of the internet and the progress of convenient technology, audiences are becoming more and more empowered in choosing which advertisements to review and the medium in which they’d like to engage in. Hulu uses this model when they ask if you’d like to watch one 90 second commercial, rather than three 30 second commercials. You see it as advertisements on Facebook and other social networking sites begin to gear their material towards audiences more likely to receive and utilize it.

In any case, people are finally realizing they can choose something else– they don’t have to have Billy Mays (bless his Oxycleaned soul) yelling at them about oxygen bubbles tickling the red wine stain from the roots of their carpet. They can fast-forward their TiVo. So the dilemma for them becomes How to Get People Genuinely Interested– and here enters artistic appeal. Innovation and creativity will be our higher calling– well, it always was (or should have been), but now the providers of our beloved commercials are being forced to step it up.

Hello my dear readers. My dear, darling readers.

I awoke to Seattle enshrouded by gentle mist. The breath of Zeus is upon us.

But seriously, I’m so proud of how productive I am today.

What I have completed:
Health screening for Rome. Researched $$$ for vaccinations. Got an official Washington State Issued ID Card. Got a library card at the Seattle Public Library, where I am visiting for the first time.

All before 12:00.

I’ve also scheduled an interview for a story I’m reporting on for my class– COM 495, “SUPRAPRINT” by Professor Florangela Davila.

I would blog on my story, but I sorta don’t– because I’m weary of how many people are actually in Mars Hill Church, and I don’t want to have them “reading me” before I interview them. That’s incredibly self-indulgent of me, to think that I am quite that important for them to be concerned about, but no matter, no matter, self-indulgence comes and goes like the wind.

This is a ridiculous post. Does anyone else create things and destroy them precisely because they don’t have conviction in their coolness??

I have more conviction in others than I do in myself. Why does this sound terrible?

In NEWS: Yes-men front man Andy Bichlbaum pulled a stunt press junket when he impersonated a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and announced that the chamber would reverse their previous stance on global warming policies and instead support taxation of carbon emmissions. He was interrupted by an actual member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce– see their live hoax here. Hilarity only increases when the “real man” arrives on the scene– and an actual statement from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce was released denouncing the hoax as an obstacle in “seriously discussing the improvement of global climate change in the world” (not a direct quote– just something like that). Losers.

Yes, I’m drawing a parallel with life as a game. How original, you say. What else is a blog for, than to bemoan self-wrapped loathes and loves in textual eruption?

The Keira Knightley version does not hold as much sharp wit and conversation as the BBC’s version featuring Colin Firth as an authentic Mr. Darcy. Their focus holds on Keira and cinematic sort of effects– while the BBC’s unabridged feature forces audiences to focus on the mental dexterity and social interactions of such characters.

Anyway– wit.

I have also often found that many of the people I interact with outside of college tend to have more clever wit then your garden variety University of Washington student. This is of course a generalization, and I do not wish to pursue this observation. All I can suggest, is the limits of such wide education curriculum in the freedom of thought– the ability to “think outside the box”.

Blogs like hipsterrunoff.com and fakekarl.blogspot.com are soooo witty. Their reenactment and remediation of stereotypes and caricatures are spot-on observant. They point out the ridiculous insistence of these people in reflecting who they are. In a fell swoop of a sentence, wit masters can render the seriousness of any topic or cultural aspect brokenly ironic.

And I feel like all I can do is gasp and try to catch up with the next punchline.

I also feel like ehow.com or about.com should do an article on “How to be witty”. They do, after all, have one on “how to small talk”.
