Lasciviously Lanvin

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

Why not, everyone else is obsessing about the Alber Elbaz Lanvin collab. with H/M, coming out November 20th in stores and 23rd online…

From what I can see, the collection features boldly feminine shapes: frills are not weak, but violently declaring its beauty through exaggeration of the “girly”. Colors show this as well: popping yellow, pink, red, blues, and the classic edge of black. While these pieces are certainly magnificent and sassy fresh, I still can’t afford them. The Ladies tees alone are +30$; the accessories? +20$. I want the leather gloves with satin wristed bowtie? No. It’s 50 dollars. While Bryanboy is muttering about standing in line to buy everything on the list, I’m sobbing about affording a cheap plastic flower brooch ($20). I would massage feet for the white and dark brown faux-fur coat…

I am no loaded fashionista, no Olivia Palermo. Although I do appreciate the awesomeness of designers in extending their creative efforts towards the thirsty masses, it smells like a quick cash scheme if you think about it. And the publicity! People will be loving the real goat-hair jacket and flaunt it over the faux piece that is coming out as part of the H/M line.

Their trailer/sneak peek for the H/M line is fantastically done! I love the story, the characters, and– le sigh– the clothes!
