Are entrancing to stare at, it just won’t break when I take a sip. And another sip. And aanother…

It’s a SURPRISINGLY crowded morning here at Solstice– I thought it’d be at least a little less busy, but that is… clearly not the case… I blame the midterms. And my bad posture that has me stooping over this tiny table.

Daylight savings again– usually that sigh before the plunge into the COLD ENDLESS depths of WINTER… ah!!! Say goodbye to warm toes and dry feet, and waking up on-time.

Chelsea On the Rocks

Chelsea On the Rocks

I’m excited to watch CHELSEA ON THE ROCKS this week– a documentary on the history written in the walls and sunken into the carpets of the infamous Chelsea Hotel. So relevant, so interesting– “Famed home to such icons as Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Tennessee Williams, William S. Burroughs, Charles Bukowski, Andy Warhol and Mark Twain,”… ! It’s the boho-artistic world of drugs, sex, violence, and endless fame– I don’t know much about the hotel myself, except for the Sid/Nancy relash turning nasty…

Here’s a short history:

The hotel was built in 1883 and opened as an apartment cooperative in 1884. In 1905, the private cooperative went bankrupt and was purchased/re-opened as a hotel. At the time, the location of the Chelsea Hotel was near the Theatre district in New York City. It came to house brilliant artists, musicians, and writers alike– Arthur C. Clarke wrote A Space Odyssey while at the Chelsea. Now, the hallways are adorned with art pieces by former inhabitants and boasts quite the history…

That probably wasn’t much help. Blame wikipedia.

Anyway, I’m watching it tonight.
