So the other day, I was lurking in China Town for a dumb errand, and stopped at the Kinokunyia Bookstore for some chill-time. After tinkering around with some toys (eraser bento box! kawaii stationary! feng shui manual! and o! magnifying glasses ga-lore!) I found the magazines, where lo! and behold! the star of my guilty pleasure <reality tv shows>, Lauren Conrad, was smirking glossily on the cover of a japanese fashion magazine. Where she is branded with a sparkly pink “NO LIFE”.

Is LC hotter in America or Japan?

Sacre bleu! How on earth are decidedly fashion oriented self-made hipsters in Japan watching The Hills and understanding its ridicu-los-osity? Well, I had to investigate, and I was disappointed. Beloved Comrade Conrad only has a two page spread, and most of them are paparazzi pics:

In the cluttery style of People magazine! Or worse, Us magazine. Anyway– Westernization marches on! Japanese Vogue Men, for example– or perhaps it was another magazine– focused on an “AMERICA” perspective; featuring Hedi Slimane’s America/West themed photoshoot. I believe it is on his very site. Look for the bald eagles amongst the skinny prepubescent boys with twiggy arms and owl eyes.

On that note, I am going to eat my sad Fiesta Quiche. It is so unfortunate looking, I am naming it a Siesta Quiche. Part of it fell asleep in the oven. Fiesta to siesta Quiche. Ay mi.
