Sea-Town Blues
Thursday, February 26th, 2009Hello world,
It has suddenly snowed yet again in Seattle after several days of pouring rain.
People always ask if Seattle is as depressing as it sounds. Because of the rain. For me, the depressing part is wet shoes.
Rain boots are popular, and recently (the past year or so) we’ve had a rise in popularity of “hip” rain boots.

Rain, rain, went away, came again as snow today...
So really, there’s nothing stopping you from singing in the rain.
For those finger-numbing, windy days where sheets of raindrops slap you in the face if you dare step outside– pack an adventure sack, bundle up, and face Seattle. There’s no other way to experience it.
Possible Rainy Day Adventures:
1. Explore a new coffeeshop.
Instead of moping at home, get out and try some of the 17,788* coffee shops that proudly call Seattle its home (*according to google maps). There are more than enough kinds of coffee to taste, and our eccentric favorites (Sureshot, Chai Trabant, Cafe Vita, Cafe Victrola, Zoka, Verite) also serve a variety of snacks, from vegan to deliciously indulgent.
2. Books n more
If you’re downtown, visit Elliot Bay, or any of the second hand bookstores– there’s one under Pike Place Market, and Half Price Bookstores usually has fantastic finds. Comic stores let you catch up on action in Wallingford and U-District (Zanadu Comics, Comic Dungeon). Seattle Library is amazing. Check it.
3. Blog it out
If the outside remains exhaustively unappealing, visit the many Seattle blogs that keeps readers updated on community events, new restaurants, and upcoming sales.

4. And if you’re still feeling miserable…
Uplift yourself with the misfortune of others. There’s nothing sweeter.
