Braaaazziiiil!
Thursday, June 18th, 2009Since no one sees me as a suitable intern this summer, this blog may take my cake and eat it too. That might not make sense, but it doesn’t really matter!
I watched a movie called BRAZIL last night– and it’s crazy. I love it. It’s a parable-movie, where they criticize modernity as yewzh, what with technology ‘taking over our lives’ and what-not. It’s sort of like a satire about everything at the time the movie was made. I don’t know if I’m in any position to blog so much about it, as I passed out and didn’t finish it. In fact, I woke up towards the end of the movie to a pretty terrible scene (which I also forgot, but remember the feeling of terror at seeing it).
I’ll finish it later tonight. They also have a great cast– Jonathan Pryce (the Governor/Keira’s dad in Pirates of the Caribbean), Robert De Niro, Ian Holm (Bilbo Baggins), Bob Hoskins (Paris Je t’aime).
Anyway, they had a SHOE HAT in the movie– I don’tknow if Schirapirelli designed it, but designer Schirapirelli collaborated with modern artist Salvidor Dali to make the infamous shoe hat:
Which is of course ridiculous, but ingenious at the same time.
The shoe hat in the movie was a bit different, but obviously followed the same design in its satirical wit. Terry Gilliam of The Monty Python and the Holy Grail directed it, so it figures.
Here’s some screenshots from the movie:
